About Us
Are you looking for a pediatrician office near you in Ithaca, NY? Buttermilk Falls Pediatrics has a proud history dating back to the post-World War II era, when Drs. Davis and Kingsley opened their office on E. State Street in Ithaca. By the mid-1950s, Dr. Davis relocated to S. Albany Street, where Dr. Roger Perry joined him in 1960, followed by Dr. L. Anthony Speno in 1963, creating the foundation of the practice.
Over the years, numerous skilled physicians have enriched the team, including Dr. John Lambert, a specialist in pediatric gastroenterology who served until his retirement in May 2020.
Today, the practice continues to provide trusted care with pediatrician Dr. Amit Shrivastava, who joined in 2022, alongside Kimberly Welch, MSN, PNP, known for her expertise in newborn and lactation care. Most recently, in December 2024, Wali M. Ahmadzai, a physician assistant with an M.D. from Afghanistan and a LeMoyne College PA Program honors graduate, brought his multilingual skills in English, Pashto, Dari, Farsi, and Urdu to the team. Well Child Visits
Visiting your pediatrician's office regularly for
well child visits is one of the most important ways to keep your child healthy, providing an opportunity to monitor their growth and address any questions or concerns about their health. These visits should follow the recommended schedule, and we encourage you to call our office in advance to book an appointment with your child's pediatrician at a time that works best for you, though we may also be able to schedule you within a week.

As pediatric professionals, the health of our patients is our top priority and it is our duty to protect EVERY child in our practice. Dr. Shrivastava has been a dedicated provider at Buttermilk Falls Pediatrics since 1994, renowned for his fun neckties, approachable demeanor, and his holistic approach that thoughtfully integrates Western medicine. With a strong belief in the importance of whole foods and natural sleep cycles aligned with the sun for children’s optimal health, he collaborates closely with parents to achieve the best outcomes for each child. A proud father of two accomplished daughters—one pursuing medical school and the other studying at Cornell University—Dr. Shrivastava enjoys cooking, bicycling, and playing guitar in his leisure time. Graduating Magna Cum Laude from Gandhi Medical College in Bhopal, India, he completed his pediatric residency at the University of Iowa Hospital and has conducted research in nephrology.
